Tag? What? Naw, you didn't really touch me, it was just my shirt.

Apparently, I've been blog tagged by Marge aka Elisabeth aka Bella Voce. And apparently, this means that I need to write 5 things about myself and then tag 5 more people. However, I must confess a little secret of mine....

Come closer....

::whispers:: I hate internet games.

And so, meaning no disrespect to Marge or anyone else who participates in such things, I shall now by way of avoidance provide 5 reasons not to accept this tag.

1. She didn't really get me. Read the title.

2. This tag has gone far too far, far too fast. One day, Marge gets tagged. The next, Rachel, Eleanor, Stephen, Rae, M-bito, and more, are all tagged! This thing spreads quicker than the plague. Thanks to you, Marge, half the internet is now tagged.

3. Violence. Based on reason #2, it's only a matter of time before 1) someone gets jealous that they WEREN'T tagged or 2) someone gets mad that they WERE tagged. And then it's only a matter of time before retaliation begins.

4. The collapse of society. This could occur for two reasons: 1) the violence mentioned in reason #3 escalates to a nation-wide level, or (more likely) 2) Stephen gains too much influence, by virtue of this whole tagging thing, and covertly orchestrates the collapse of society that he desires in order to have the opportunity to build his own society back up again. And yes, this is true. Ask him. He'll tell you.

5. With the impending collapse of society as we know it, there are much more important things we should all be doing instead of blog tagging each other. Like... maybe...

Studying for finals, instead of blogging....

(What's the opposite of tagging 5 more people? It's too easy just not to tag 5 more people. Hmm... I know!)

I now nominate 5 people who must either refute or support my reasons given above for not accepting this tag. The 5 are:
Marge, Stephen, Mike, Courtney Patino and my brother Mark. Argue away!

AJ, you are awesome!

To tell the truth (and why not?), when I saw that Elizabeth had tagged Mike I was like, gee, I want to get tagged... but, reading your blog I now think, whoa, girl, think before you desire such a thing!

I had no idea that the demise of society was awaiting the fall of the first domino.

But maybe it's not just the spread that is the danger. I mean, here we are blogging. We want to share, we want to talk about ourselves. A tag says, "Hey, I want to know more about you!" Don't we want to be wanted? Indeed we do, so we want to play the game to justify our want to be wanted and to pass on the pleasantness of that feeling.

Again, reasons 3-5 sort of outweight this warm fuzzy neediness. But sometimes their fuzziness gives them this sort of sticky attachment that we can't quite get away from (like cotton candy on your fingers or those little dandilion feathers) .

All of this gladly for your consideration.

Refute! For your reason #4-2!

Okay, so I'm eager to jump into this (sorry it took so long . . . your site wouldn't let me comment), but I have to clear something up first. Is this refutation done in comments on this post, or do we do it on our own blogs like we would if we were tagged?

AJ you stubborn so-and-so! I must admit, I have been to busy for blogness yet I have been tagged! Not only that, but I was only able to come up with THREE things that no one else knows about me... and even those, some might know. What can I say? I'm an open book... or rather... I'm some sort of talking book you might find in a harry potter story that just wont shut up.

...OO! I got one... annnnnd WHY ON EARTH AM I HERE?!?! THREE HOURS TILL MY FINAL!!! AHHHH!!!!!

AJ,

Yes, I am in the process of developing a response. But in the meantime, I've recently felt very inspired and have written a blog post close to my heart. Please read it. I would love to hear your own views and opinions and for you to pass the discussion on to others. It is our time to begin step up.

Thanks,
Marge
