Chrestomathy - aka Quote of the Day

Don'tcha just love big words? "Chrestomathy" = A selection of literary passages, usually by one author. (www.dictionary.com) Also known as a quote. I use this word because I learned it on this guy's blog, where the quote is from. His name is Doug Wilson, he's a pastor in Moscow, Idaho, his blog is here, and here's the quote, speaking of postmodernism and its dislike of absolutes:

"If you don't like absolutes in ethics, aesthetics, or theology, then go ahead and say so -- but only if you are willing to refrain from the use of any absolutes in the condemnation. In other words, it is not possible to damn absolutes because damning is way too . . . absolute. The relativist, having nowhere to stand, can only summon up enough power to hecky-darn the absolutes. Fortunately, the absolutes pay no attention."

Heh heh... he said "hecky-darn!"

Good quote but he's absolutely not a PCA pastor. He is a pastor in the Confederation of Reformed Evangelicals.
